Level Design Concept

This is a concept presented to┬áDidier Malenfant at Ready At Dawn Studios in 2006 for a new Jak and Daxter game I was interviewing for. While the terms of the arrangement did not work out, Didier did really like the concept submission. I believe it’s important to map out a 3D level design, considering the user experience, story and game play progression prior to committing anything into an editor. It’s also important to provide plenty of opportunities for “money shots” for the camera during game play, with varied and interesting landscapes, interiors, battles and obstacles. This was sketched on isometric paper to help communicate the 3D landscape.
